As a part of the monitoring process of the project implementation, PMU staff visited the Uva-PIU and reviewed the implementation progress of civil works packages awarded to mitigate landslides in Uva Provincial Road network during 15 – 16 December 2017. Purpose of this field visit and review meeting was to give an opportunity and exposure especially for middle and junior staff of both PMU and Uva-PIU to gain knowledge and experience on landslide mitigation works being implemented to ensure the transport continuity in Uva road network and also highlight how monitoring process is important to track the progress and managing implementation issues.
Uva-PIU presented the progress of civil work packages implemented and highlighted the management and operational issues experienced by the PIU Staff to seek timely solution. PMU senior staff addressed the issues and provided necessary solution to facilitate the implementation process. Discussion extended to review the 2018 action plan and implementation strategies to expedite the project implementation.
Field visit made to one of civil works packages awarded to stabilize land slide/slope failure, control erosion of shoulders and improvement of drainage of 12 Km length Kottagoda –Podumilla Adiyarawattha- Yalagamuwa Road.
