CRIP PMU has commenced the Preparing a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for the proposed investment plans for four (4) river basins (Kalani Mahaweli Attanagalu and Mundeniaru). Kelani river basin which has been taken as a one of the priority project to be implemented under CRIP.???? PMU has awarded a contract to Consulting Engineers and Architects Associated (Pvt) Ltd to carry out the Strategic Environment Assessment of four basins. Since number of stakeholder agencies in regional as well as local level contributed to the SEA preparation process and this report needs to be validated after consultation of with the stakeholders. For this purpose, stakeholder consultation workshop was held on 5th April 2018, from 9.00 am to 1.30 pm at Sapphire Hotel, Wellawatta to present the findings of Strategic Environment Assessment (SEA) for Kelani River Basin.

Around 70 participants from deferent stakeholder agencies attended to the workshop including World Bank, Irrigation Department, Ministry of Irrigation and water Resources Management, NBRO Divisional secretaries in Gampaha and Colombo Districts. Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation, NARA, Central Environmental, Authority Cost Conservation Department NAQDA, Fisheries Department etc.

This workshop has successfully?? conducted and?? outcome of the workshop will be incorporated in?? to the final report of the Strategic Environmental Assessment for Kalani river basin .
